FAQ's

How can I do a recording of a coaching session and keep the client details safe and confidential?

You are welcome to use our Zoom room and invite them to a session in there. If you record to the cloud, we can watch it back without you ever having to send a recording over email or convert to MP3s etc. Simply email us and we will set this up for you.

Can I use someone on the programme to do my recorded coaching session?

Yes absolutely – we just need you to do a full session and then submit a short 1000 word critique of it when you have listened back to it. Who it is with is not relevant, and it doesn’t have to be perfect – we are in fact looking for you to be able to critique why it wasn’t perfect!

How do I access the ethical dilemmas?

You simply email the AC direct for these - they will send a random dilemmas or two to you on email. Simply forward that email with your answer to us and them. It sounds daunting but is actually very simple and easy. If you want to practise first, our ethical dilemma and supervision sessions use the same format. Just book on!

How many client references do I need

2 – this can include the references you have already got for your initial Foundation accreditation.

How many hours do I need in total to become an Accredited Executive Coach?

100 hours in total. These can be as far in the past as you like. They include team and individual coaching. It does not need to be paid but we would suggest all coaching is - however small the amount and even if it goes to charity as it adds commitment. You can have an element of life coaching but 75% of the hours should be people who you have helped in a professional capacity - the topic can be personal - so work life balance is a common one. Simply ask yourself “Was this life coaching for a friend or coaching about work for a contact who is a professional?’ And you won’t go far wrong.

Do I need to be a member of the Association for Coaching to be accredited?

No, however we would suggest membership is CV worthy! There’s also access to a number of benefits such as free or discounted sessions. And our relationship with the AC makes it affordable. You can apply to get one year of free student membership when you start our programme and you get another year free when you apply for accreditation with us.

Do I need to pay for my own accreditation and membership?

Yes – these are personal to you, so you need to pay for them directly to the AC. However, when you join our programme, you receive one year of free AC student membership. 💡 If you don’t complete your accreditation in that free year, don’t worry – when you do apply and get accredited, you’ll receive another year of free membership.

Who completes the AC checklist?

Top Right Thinking completes the checklist for you, after reviewing your submitted materials.

When should I apply for accreditation?

We recommend applying within your first free year of AC membership to make the most of the offer. If you don’t have the coaching hours yet, you can still apply later – just ensure you’re an active member at the time of applying.

Can I get some 121 support for my accreditation? I would rather someone talk me through it than read through all these Q&A?

Sure! We have some fabulous Accreditation Mentors – people who have done OUR programme and are now qualified AND accredited. You can book a session with them through our website here for £30 per session. They are more than happy to share their experiences over a virtual cuppa.

Do I need insurance to coach?

Yes. And the AC will ask to see evidence of your personal indemnity insurance when you apply. We have recommended Policy Bee to our coaches and they seem to provide a competitive quote.
