Normally hate Sunday evenings but cheered by 7 ⭐ Normally hate Sunday evenings but cheered by 7 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️reviews - (none of them my family!), raising quite a bit for Big Issue Foundation as sales are pretty good and we are donating 10% of profits and getting a badge as I’ve been persisting with #Tip32 and learning French for 250 days.

I can tell you my neighbours are kind and that I have 2 Dogs. I’m virtually bilingual.

Whenever I feel a burst of pride, rationally I kno Whenever I feel a burst of pride, rationally I know I might deserve it, but unless I am really paying attention, that positive feeling is quickly followed by the little Imposter chap on my shoulder telling me ‘pride comes before a fall’ and to ‘stop showing off’.

One of the times that I feel like a ‘proper writer’ is when I send a signed carton of books to a client beforehand to support a training or public speaking event.

However, when I take it to the post office, ‘it’ will often come along for the ride and use my queuing time to have a quiet word with me about ‘not getting ideas above my station’ or asking me ‘what if they think it’s rubbish?’

So it is pretty ironic that my last job before I broke up for the Christmas break was to send this box of books to support a virtual session with the leading female leaders at @parkdeanresorts this week, which is on… Imposter Thinking 😅

I was reading the brilliant Why Has Nobody Told Me This Before by @drjulie and you can see it now has top billing on the book stack I have deliberately placed so I see it from my “Zoom Chair” for an inspirational glance when I’m training or coaching!

It describes beautifully that whilst we can’t always control a negative or inaccurate thought, but we can come to notice it and ‘re-frame’ what we think so it doesn’t have as much impact on how we feel or cause us to put unnecessary boundaries on what we can achieve.

That’s why I love being invited to events to talk about Imposter Thinking. Not because knowing the science means I never have it anymore so I can pass on a ‘cure’! But rather so I can authentically share how it feels to be a ‘Work in Progress’ – and that is a really good psychological place to be!

I’d love to know your top tips that help you tame your Imposter so it doesn’t hold you back below.

Dance while you wait! ✨ — #Tip16 Brew & Dance Dance while you wait! ✨ — #Tip16 Brew & Dance

So, you know those times in the day when you are waiting for something to happen? You know, hanging about for a minute or two for kettle to boil, the toast to pop up, the laptop to boot up, the shower to get warm?

How about a top tip that, in those moments, will help you to sharpen your brain, mood and performance?

Well, a little boogie can do just that.

This tip is so simple many of you may already do this without thinking about it – especially if, like me, you want to embarrass your children.

It’s that sneaky little ‘dodgy dance’ when we think nobody else is looking. Think Hugh Grant in Love Actually.

#Tip16 even got a cheeky shout-out on @bbc6music yesterday with @laurenlaverne. Habit-stacking a dance pre-shower with her Monday Cloudbusting feature always puts a smile on my face.

If you do it already, show off about the favour you are already doing yourself by finding out more about the science of #Tip16 in my new book DOSE via the #LinkInBio or a quick internet search. 💛

There’s still time to beat #BlueMonday - the wor There’s still time to beat #BlueMonday - the worst day of the year according to many!! ✨

Some of my favourite tips from #DOSE I’d recommend trying today are:

🛀 #Tip2 – A warm afternoon bath

Take a hot bath for 30 minutes. Ideally, follow it with another 20 minutes taking it easy and staying warm. The water needs to be pretty hot – the study we mention in DOSE used 40 degree Celsius water.

🍫 #Tip 13 – Treat Yourself

Treating yourself to a yummy snack or any other reward works as a way to feel good and perform better.

☕ #Tip16 – Brew & Dance

When we dance, we are welcoming into our life that connection between brain, mind and body. A little jig is an amazing workout for the brain as it connects these in a ‘neurodynamic’ way – that is it incorporates all sorts of parts of your brain.

🎤 #Tip18 – Sing it out

Whilst your family might not thank you for belting out your favourite tunes in the shower, or whilst hoovering or whilst dancing at a party after a little too much fizz, you go on ahead - you are doing great things for your immune system and adding to your oxytocin reserves.

🤗 #Tip21 – Hugs Matter

The act of hugging is proven to release powerful chemicals that really matter to our mental health. After all, we are creatures that have evolved for connection and contact with others.
